sulphide spot on a '96 silver Maple Leaf

This coin I have is a '96 silver M.L. and it is in the Canadian mint original soft plastic seal with the mint stamp in the soft plastic as well. The plastic has a very small puncture which did not mar the coin, but it allowed exposure of a spot on the coin to outside air, and so where it had set for a while, there is a small sulphide brown spot about an 1/8" long. Otherwise coin is in mint shape.
My question is: should I remove the '96 out of the original packet and get it in a hard plastic sealed container so no more sulphide coating occurs due to the puncture, or should I leave it in the original, and thus risk more sulphide spots over time?
Ideally, I would like to seal the puncture in the original soft plastic mint seal, but do not want to use a clumsy method. Any suggestions?
If I do take it out to seal it in another hard seal, can I dab it to remove the sulphide spot and then seal it?

Thanks!

I would suggest you get it into a holder. A 38mm Airtite capsule is my favorite method. Unlike other silver coins, the (collector) appeal of a SML seems to drop when the coin has any signs of toning, especially on a key date like the '96.

But sulphide spots really dont damage they value do they? as that is a normal oxidation process.

Plus I think that would lead to tonning if left alone and always fetches a nice premium if the pattern is nice.

The puncture made a small oblong dark spot (looks like a burn) where the air met the coin thru the broken seal. But as the coin sits in that soft plastic seal, the same process will happen to other points on that side of the coin. I do not think it would be attractive as a result. I think I will take the advice from Jekyll and place it in a holder. I will make a nice incision to the soft plastic at a seam, then I will put the holder with the coin back in the original mint soft plastic, and keep its original holder with the coin in some fashion at least.
Should I try to do anything with the small spot before placing it in the holder:questionm
